2022-23 Season News

  • The biggest news from Kissing Bridge is that Diane Smith will retire from the position of Ski Patrol Director at the end of the 2022-23 season. Kissing Bridge President, Rich Fannelli and the Kissing Bridge management hosted a party to celebrate Diane in the Harvest Room at Kissing Bridge on November 12th. It was the first of many events that will honor Diane this season.

  • KB Patroller Chuck Dunn was instrumental in the development of the new NSP Learning Management System and the on-line OEC refresher. Chuck says, “20,000+ Patrollers have completed the online portion and almost 18,000 have finished their skills session. New content is being developed and reporting improvements are being implemented. In addition, the NSP is saving money by replacing the old BlueSky Learning Management system with TopClass.”

  • Ann Manzella, APD of Training and Testing, coordinated a successful OEC Refresher Skills Session this fall. There were 12 patrollers from other areas that joined KBSP. Dan Meess, WNY Region Director, said of the Refresher, “I had the pleasure to participate in KB's OEC refresher and it was excellent; lots of hands-on and just the right amount of introduction at each station. Interactive triage of the MCI in small groups and then comparing the assessments of each patient was really outstanding.”

  • Allison Lang, OEC On-Hill Candidate Training Coordinator, has been guiding our candidate class with the help of many instructors. We have an exciting group of future patrollers and look forward to seeing them in their red jackets.

  • Tim Camp, APD of Administrative, and Patroller Chris Hart-Nova have developed an online scheduling tool from the virtual ground up. It streamlines patroller sign-up and saves Tim reading through dozens of emails.

  • The KBSP Annual Ski Swap was a great success again. Hundreds of skiers and boarders found new and used equipment that they will use on all the slopes of WNY.

**The surprise November storm allowed  Kissing Bridge to open on Black Friday! Here’s to a great season!
